A prediction for 2016 in the real estate industry suggests that millennials are going to be entering into the buying market in larger than normal numbers. Those who think this age group is full of lazy slackers has the wrong impression. Millennials are very hard-working and owning a home is one of their top priorities. They are entering the market because they are making more money, they have settled their financial affairs, rent is getting higher, and they want to still take advantage of low-interest rates on mortgages. This is going to happen in the Savannah real estate market, and we fully expect these young consumers to be looking.
Once Burned, Twice Shy
Millennials were hit hard by the Great Recession of 2008, and they still have memories of what happened. It is expected they are going to be more cautious than ordinary buyers because of that experience. They’re not going to be impulsive buyers and want to get the best possible return on their investment. Many of them are not very knowledgeable about the real estate market. There are certain qualities of a house they might not be checking, such as whether or not the roof is leaking. They may decide to try to get a house they can fix up, without realizing the cost in money and time of restoring any property. Millennials just don’t know a lot about real estate. This is why they need a professional real estate agent to assist them.
A part-time real estate agent is not someone who can be of much help. These people are in the industry for second incomes. Their concern is to sell a house and get the commission. It is a sad situation, but buyers are often not well served by those who dabble in the property. Live Love Savannah does not employ part-time real estate agents. We insist that our agents be full-time professionals, committed to the industry. They are in a situation to be of real value to any millennial buyer.
Good Advice Given the Right Way
We know that first-time buyers are both excited and anxious about what they are doing. We are as supportive as possible when a young person or couple come looking for real estate. First and foremost, we listen to what they are looking for in a property. It could be something close to work or perhaps out in the country. We then help with several market opportunities. Our agents spend a great deal of time educating buyers on the real estate conditions in the Hostess City. While we are well informed, we do not lecture to millennials, but offer advice they may accept or reject. What is important is the way we deliver the information. We want our client to be able to make the final decision based on the best information.
Any client is buying service when they enter a relationship with us. The best quality is what we will provide. That includes the necessary research and help in the preparation of the right documents. If we know something about the house based on sales history, we will inform you as soon as possible. We feel it is very important that first-time buyers know they are in charge. We provide assistance, answer questions, and offer advice - making this a worthwhile and pleasant experience.
