Centuries of Ghosts
Savannah has had quite a while to build up its ghost clientele, and the spirits have been found wandering around the real estate. The Davenport House is known for having a little girl haunt the upper rooms, and a cat has been seen running around and vanishing. The Kehoe House seems to come alive with the sounds of children who passed away in the bedrooms. The Andrew Lowe House is a beautiful home on Lafayette Square built in ante-bellum Savannah. Rumor has it the ghost of Robert E. Lee has been seen there, although we do not know why the general would stop by. The Habersham family occupied the Olde Pink House in the late 18th century. James Habersham, Jr., the man who constructed the house has been seen walking around the rooms. People swear they had conversations with him, not knowing he has been dead for over two hundred years.
No doubt the most famous of Savannah's haunts is the Mercer Williams House. A young boy has been seen falling from the roof, but the most famous household ghost is Jim Williams. He happens to be the primary character in the book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. His shade is said to haunt the place.
