It's been decades since someone first claimed "It's cooler in Pooler," yet this saying is still going strong. You could even say it's gained a new level of traction, as evidenced by Pooler's rapid growth in recent years.
Once upon a time Pooler was a small town with one caution light. Then the city grew. And it grew some more. By 2000, a true growth spurt had ensued. By the 2010 U.S. Census the population had tripled, and today Pooler ranks high on the list of the fastest growing cities in Georgia.
So, what is it about Pooler that draws new residents from near and far? Here are a few observations.
Location, Location, Location
As we say in real estate, Pooler has 'proximity advantage.' Two interstates and an international airport serving a variety of destinations are nearby. That makes quick getaways, business trips, and local commutes easy. Major employers like JCB, Gulfstream and Mitsubishi are just up the road. Savannah and all it has to offer is only 10 miles away and the sand and surf at Hilton Head or Tybee Island is less than an hour's drive.
Conveniences Close to Home
Pooler's prime location is also a big draw for businesses. Retailers, popular chain restaurants and home-grown eateries pepper the Pooler Parkway and Godley Station areas; there are myriad entertainment venues too. So townsfolk can shop, dine, and unwind-all with a short trip down the street. Pooler is also a new home for Tanger Outlets; this upscale mall opens in April 2015 and boasts 80-plus brand-name and designer factory stores.
Local Attractions and Recreation
Locals can also while away free time at the 200-acre community park, whether fishing or kayaking on the lake, walking or biking along the trails, playing tennis or disc golf, or frolicking with the kids on the playground. Action attractions include Oglethorpe Speedway, and residents can choose among activities like go-karts, arcades, bowling, and laser tag for family play time. Plus, there's plenty of fun to be had at the 102-acre recreation park.
An Attractive Array of Homes
Pooler's real estate market is appealing too. Thanks to housing growth, the area has options to fit a variety of budgets, tastes and lifestyles. If you're a buyer seeking an upscale gated community with comparable amenities, you're in luck. Prefer a condo or townhouse? Pooler has that. Leaning toward a newly built home? Yes to that. How about a starter home in an established neighborhood? Ditto the latter.
That Small-Town Feel
Now, even with its robust growth, Pooler prides itself on a commitment to stay a 'small town at heart.' That translates into a down-to-earth pace of life; folks exchanging friendly hellos with one another; neighbors being… well…neighborly; kids comfortably walking to schools, which are top notch by the way; and residents enjoying a strong sense of belonging and community pride.
Pooler is indeed a vibrant community and a wonderful place to call home. I am ready and delighted to help buyers and sellers navigate the Pooler real estate market. Contact us today to get started.
