Just when we thought that the holidays couldn’t get any merrier in Savannah, 2016 debuts another exciting event that adds to the wonder of the season. This magical new event is Holidays on Broughton and it kicks off November 25 and continues each Saturday through December 17.

The event is part of the resurgence of historic Broughton Street, which is in the midst of a multi-million dollar restoration project – the Broughton Street Collection – that is aimed at returning the area to its former glory. With a good number of retailers now open and residential lofts leased in this new development, there’s bound to be lots of energy and excitement around this celebration.

Here’s a quick recap of the festivities taking place:

Tree Lighting – The merrymaking begins the Friday after Thanksgiving with a tree-lighting led by Savannah’s mayor. The glistening 50-foot holiday tree will welcome shoppers throughout the event from its spot in the heart of downtown at the corner of Broughton and Bull Streets.

Photos with Santa – Jolly Ol’ St. Nick stops by on November 25 and each Saturday of the event, offering your family the chance to capture memories of “Holidays on Broughton” with a photo with Santa by the holiday tree. Don’t want to wait in line? You can make a reservation.

Pop-Up Store – A very familiar “retail face” and a Savannah mainstay since 1946, the family-owned children’s boutique Punch & Judy will have a holiday pop-up shop open on Broughton Street through Christmas Eve. So, get ready to check some gifts for the little ones off your list.

Art Projections – Right up through the day after Christmas, bright and colorful high-tech art projections will light up buildings on Broughton Street nightly from 6pm to 9:30pm. Images will range from classic to modern and immerse you in this historic street’s legendary past.

Musical Entertainment – Your holiday shopping experience is made even more pleasant with entertainment by Savannah musical groups. The lineup includes variety band Tell Scarlett, the rock /pop Clear Daze Band, Calvary Day School and Savannah Country Day School jazz band.

Holidays on Broughton is, as the saying goes, another feather in Savannah’s lifestyle cap, adding to an already vibrant Downtown experience and giving Live Love Savannah one more exciting bit of news to share with you about our city, which we love more and more every day!
